The Player Progression Academy (PPA) is a premier youth sports academy, a leading club in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. PPA offers athletic programs for players aged 2 - 18 in the DC and Maryland region in basketball, soccer, and futsal. With over 3000 players and over 100 coaches, we pride ourselves on developing players between the lines, and outside them.

Description: 

Have you ever thought about coaching soccer or hoops? Becoming a youth sports coach can be a rewarding experience. By becoming a coach with PPA we'll train you to coach the PPA way; to develop players between the lines and outside them. When you're ready to start, we'll assign you teams where you'll manage your team's practices and coach their games, compete in tournaments and watch your players grow and learn to love their sport.

The benefit of coaching with PPA is that we have teams at all levels. So whether you come to us with lots of coaching experience or none at all, we can find a team that fits your level. We also offer flexible scheduling. This means you can tell us which weekdays your available, and we'll try to match you with teams with aligning schedules. 

 

Our programs range from Kindergarten rec teams to elite level, nationally ranked travel teams. We also have a range of coaches on staff, from elite level professionally licensed coaches who compete at the highest levels, to recreational coaches who work with teams to inspire fun and play.  

Details of this Position: 

  • Coaching pay is based on the number of teams managed, the type of teams managed, and the coach's experience level.

  • Coaches can make anywhere from $200/month - 3k/month as part time contractor coaches, coaching on weekday afternoons and weekends. This pay will depend on the number of teams they are coaching, the level of the teams they are coaching, and the experience level of the coach.

  • Entry level teams require 1-2 hours per week, advanced level teams require 3-5 hours per week.

  • Coaches can usually take one 1 - 5 teams/season. 

  • We don't pay by the hour, we pay by the team. But roughly speaking, entry level coaches can expect about $20-$25 /hour coaching, the most advanced coaches can expect $70-$100/hour coaching, and mid level coaches get paid somewhere in between

  • Coaches get tips from parents too, usually at the end of each season.

  • Coaches can make more money with PPA if they take on additional administrative roles. Availability for these roles is limited.

Requirements of this Position:

  • Availability to coach on the weekend and/or weekday afternoons 

  • Ability to access field and court locations in Northwest DC or Montgomery County

  • Ability to commit for a season. Most seasons operate about 8 weeks long. Our advanced teams operate year round. 

  • Pass a Background Check and our Onboarding & Training Program
