A Look Back at PPA's 2017

It's no secret PPA has grown tremendously in just a few years. Our Hoops, Soccer and Futsal Programs are the largest they have ever been. We had our first Boys Premier Hoops season this Fall (and they won the tournament in their first season), Winter 2017/2018 is our largest Futsal league to date and our Girls Premier Soccer program added more age groups.

Along with our programs growing we have also added to our staff. In 2017, we almost doubled our full time staff and added to our coaching core. We now have 15 full time employees and over 70 coaches! Our coaches come from a variety of playing background including multiple professional, semi-professional and collegiate players.

1st Ever Events

We also had several first time events and camps that continue to bring our community closer:

1st ever Coaches Cup this past Fall. We raised $2,166 for our PPA Sponsorship Fund and our non-profit partner, Open Door Sports.

1st ever PPA Sleep away Camp. PPA and Camp Tall Timbers partnered to host the PPA Sleep away Camp. We had over 40 participants! The 2018 PPA Sleep away Camp will be June 24-29 at Camp Tall Timbers.

1st ever DC United and PPA 3 v 3 Tournament. PPA and DCU hosted a 3 v 3 tournament at RFK Aux Field. PPA had 12 teams compete. This is the first of many events that we are looking to host with DC United.

1st ever Halloween Week. We had a contest open to all members part of the PPA community to see who had the best Halloween costume.

New Programs

With new events we also added new programs at PPA.

This Fall 2017 PPA had its first full tennis season with clinics and private training.

PPA introduced the PPA Yoga program in the Fall. We are continuing to build the program this Winter and are looking to expand upon in the Spring.

We added more offerings to our private training program in 2017, including new sports – tennis and specialized training – for goalkeepers. Private training is now offered in three sports (hoops, soccer and tennis) and can be adapted to any player’s needs.

New Partnership

2017 was the first full year of Open Door Sports (ODS). The mission of ODS is to provide quality sports programming, positive experiences, and leadership opportunities for the benefit of underserved communities throughout the Metro DC area. ODS is the official non-profit partner of PPA.

Last but not least we cannot forgot about all the fun memories we made in 2017.

Take a look at some of the pictures that made 2017 so memorable.

Be on the look out for exciting events coming in 2018.
