PPA Community Celebrates 1st Ever PPA Coaches Cup

This past Saturday, November 18th, PPA held our FIRST EVER PPA Coaches Cup -- a soccer tournament that featured 40 top PPA coaches split into 4 teams competing for pride and bragging rights! We invited our entire PPA community to come out and watch their favorite coaches compete against one another to raise donations for our non-profit partner, Open Door Sports (ODS), and the PPA Scholarship Fund.

The attendance by our PPA family that came out to support their favorite PPA coaches was incredible! The sidelines were packed and the PPA coaches put on a show for all the players & parents cheering them on.

Check out a few of our PPA Coaches & Players who came to support:

In the first semi-final game, Team Northwest edged the powerful Team Janney in penalty kicks after a 3-3 draw in regulation. In a game filled with great passing and even better goals, it was the goalkeeper for Northwest, Coach Emily Kruger who came up big with save after save to help her team advance.

In the second semi-final game, Coach Mark Wysocki's offensive scoring for Team Bradley Hills mixed with the solid defensive play from Coach Adem Gokturk was too much for the young talent of Team Bethesda. Bradley Hills advanced into the finals after a 9-6 win.

In an epic back-and-forth Championship game, Tournament MVP and Captain of Team Northwest, Coach Rose Sommovigo, scored the winning goal as time expired! The excited onlooking youth players, parents and coaches stormed the field to celebrate the 5-4 victory with Team Northwest.

Check out the video of Coach Rose's game winning goal below:

We're excited to announce the 2017 Fall PPA Coaches Cup All-Tournament Team:
